I was cross. Now, I'm not. This is what's coming.
A tentative plan for this newsletter, unless other new, shiny topics seduce me.
Okay. I was not cross.
I was burned out from putting in so many hours of researching and writing for this newsletter alongside working full time, upskilling and raising an infant.
I dreamed big for us in 2024, dreaming of a newsletter so engaging it’d practically leap out of your screens! Desperately needed a push to continue the hard work. So, I sent you all personalised emails asking about your challenges that I can help solve through this newsletter. Letters from my readers and mentees have always helped boost my morale.
But, cue the crickets – silence from all 317 of you. Ouch, right?
Took it as a sign. Time to hit pause on seeking external cheers and instead, I dove headfirst into my other love – art. It’s been a soul-soothing balm, and guess what? I’m back, batteries recharged, and ready to move forward with or without a cheerleading squad.
Meanwhile this is what I’ve been up to:
Using AI for work every day (in so many unique ways!!)
Reorganising a complex intranet website (why don’t people document??)
Not explaining how content designers add value (I’m done with this!)
Learning Object-oriented UX (Oooh! So deliciously complex and effective!)
Redoing my portfolio (It’s never done. I hate that about portfolios.)
As for what’s up next, it’s a bit like opening a mystery box – the posts will reveal themselves only when I sit down to write, but here are a few possibilities:
Using AI for work every day
Which AI is better at which job?
Crafting prompts that don’t just work but sing
Training AI to write like you or the product
Planning with AI
Researching with AI
Brainstorming with AI
Therapising yourself with AI (Yes, I’ve done that)
Reorganising a complex website
Defining scope of work and research
Auditing content the right way a.k.a. contextually
Creating a content strategy
When do you need a content/system model? How to create one?
Establishing a process for content lifecycle management
Strategy for aligning stakeholders (very important!)
Not explaining how content designers add value
What I’m doing instead?
Are people realising value of my contributions?
How am I making myself heard and seen?
Making an impact as a solo or founding UX writer
Learning Object-oriented UX
Why you should too buy into the hype? (psst…the hype is real!)
How OOUX’s first step will resolve half of the complexity
How to apply it to whatever you’re working on (It’s like Math. You don’t need big science-y equations. Simple grocery rates is Math enough.)
Redoing my portfolio
What does a UX writer/Content Designer’s portfolio look like?
How to turn every day UX content into a case study?
How to make one when you don’t have any real work experience?
How to showcase projects under NDA?
Should you make it pretty or a website?
Can you use UX designer’s portfolio and tweak it for UX writing?
Now, these are the questions and struggles I have personally tackled in my own way.
If any of these topics resonate with you, feel free to message me, and I might prioritise it. Also, if there’s a dragon of your own you’re struggling to slay, hit me up. Let’s make this newsletter not just a series of entries but a saga of our shared journey.
Together, we’re unstoppable. Let’s kick some serious butt, shall we?
Catch you on the flip side,
Mansi
